Job Description: Server at Golden Corral Position Title : Server Reports To : General Manager / Associate Manager Position Overview: The main responsibility of the Server is “Making Pleasurable Dining Affordable.” Fulfilling the Golden Corral mission statement requires a positive attitude and ongoing professionalism. Guest service is the most important part of the Server’s responsibilities. The keys to success for a Server include a clean, neat appearance, positive attitude, and courtesy. Key Responsibilities: Guest Service: Ensures guest satisfaction and promotes return visits by following the Eight Steps of Service. Practices positive public relations through ensuring our restaurant is welcoming and an inclusive environment for all guests. Is aware of the guests’ needs and works to make the guests’ experience pleasurable. Shows enthusiasm and knowledge about new products and special promotions. Knows and follows position responsibilities as they relate to just-in-time delivery. Promotes teamwork by assisting other Servers to ensure outstanding guest service. Adherence to Standards: Thoroughly understands product specifications and ensures guests’ receipts match the number of guests dining in their party. Performs opening and closing procedures and side work duties. Brings equipment and facility problems to the attention of the Manager. Is familiar with the correct table bussing procedures. Follows safe work practices to ensure personal safety and the safety of other Co‑Workers and guests. Cleanliness: Performs duty roster and Cleanliness, Service, and Quality (CSQ) responsibilities. Follows local health department laws. Performs other functions that may be necessary to ensure guests receive a pleasurable dining experience. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the server station and dining area. Ensure that all items, such as silverware, glassware, and condiments, are clean, stocked, and ready for use. Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure food safety, including proper handling of food and beverages. Clean tables, chairs, and surrounding areas as needed between guests to maintain a clean dining environment. Customer Satisfaction: Monitor guests throughout their meal to ensure their satisfaction with both food and service. Anticipate guest needs and offer additional items or services, such as refills, to enhance the overall experience. Handle customer complaints or issues professionally and promptly, working to resolve problems or escape to a manager when necessary. Ensure a positive guest experience that encourages return visits and positive feedback. Teamwork & Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure efficient service and smooth restaurant operations. Assist with bussing tables, cleaning, and resetting tables between guests to maintain a clean dining area. Support the kitchen staff by communicating guest requests, special orders, or modifications to dishes. Skills & Qualifications: Customer Service : Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage guests, listen to their needs, and provide friendly, professional service. Multitasking : Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of service. Teamwork : Ability to work effectively with a team, including fellow servers, kitchen staff, and management. Attention to Detail : Ensures orders are accurate and food is delivered correctly and promptly. Problem-Solving : Ability to address customer concerns or issues with professionalism and resolve them to ensure customer satisfaction. Upselling : Comfortably recommending additional menu items to enhance the guest’s experience and contribute to the restaurant’s sales. Job Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods (4-8+ hours) with periodic breaks. Perform repetitive motions, including frequent use of hands and arms for tasks such as chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching above eye level. Capability to walk up and down stairs and use a step ladder as needed. Occasional sitting, talking, and active listening as required by the role. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly as part of job duties, including but not limited to food supplies, dishware, and equipment. When handling heavier loads, employees MUST use appropriate lifting equipment and/or seek assistance from a second person. Ability to move around the kitchen quickly and efficiently. Compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Work Environment/ Job Conditions: Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work in a loud, fast-paced environment. Employees may regularly work in varying temperature zones, including hot kitchen areas with stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers, as well as cold storage areas like refrigerators and freezers. May involve exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals in the kitchen area. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and training ensure safety and comfort while handling temperature-sensitive tasks. Awareness of temperature fluctuations and safe practices is essential for maintaining food safety standards and personal well-being. Job duties span both indoor and outdoor settings, requiring adaptability to different environments. Outdoor tasks may involve curbside delivery, trash maintenance, or ensuring a clean and welcoming exterior for guests.
