Basic Accountability Statement

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Gel coats all parts to engineering specifications, and patches parts after coating.
  • Assists in control of materials used.
  • Maintains quality control in area.
  • Operates forklift.
  • May be responsible for maintaining and testing gel coating equipment.
  • Typically requires a high school education and a year of prior lamination work experience.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have prior knowledge and experience in the following areas, and must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • A minimum of one (1) year of related boat building experience required; three (3) years fiberglass lamination experience preferred
    • Ability to adjust labor accordingly
    • Ability to audit departmental work areas
    • Ability to maintain and adjust resin guns and pumps
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Ability to pass respirator fit test
    • Ability to read and understand Job Descriptions
    • Ability to read and understand prints
    • Ability to read and understand Production Schedule
    • Ability to train others on essential functions of job
    • Ability to work in a dusty environment
    • Ability to work in a hot environment
    • Ability to work with suspended loads and heavy lifting
    • Communication skills
    • Computer knowledge desirable
    • Hand tool knowledge
    • High School Education or GED equivalent
    • Knowledge of area and job tasks
    • Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal
    • Knowledge of mechanical objects
    • Proven leadership qualities, including positive attitude, good attendance and promotion of good morale.
    • Strong recordkeeping abilities
    • Understanding of Special Instructions
    • Verbal skills
    • Work experience in field
    • Working knowledge of procedures, instructions, and documents as it relates to the quality system
    • Written skills
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours to support the requirements of the business.

Safety Requirements

  • Must possess the desire and ambition to work safely at all times and report all hazards to their Supervisor immediately
  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
  • Must be able to understand and complete the OSHA questionnaire, pass spirometer test and physically wear a respirator where required
  • Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, spending working hours on your feet, etc.
  • Must be able to understand all safety related document and worksite rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $21.70 to $25.95, hourly. In addition to base pay, a $.60 hourly lamination premium will be added. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
