Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Engineering Manager provides leadership and direction for the facility’s engineering function, overseeing the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and continuous improvement of products, processes, and systems. This role works closely with Sales, Corporate Engineering, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to support new business opportunities, improve manufacturing performance, and drive profitability. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering team, managing departmental priorities and budgets, implementing process improvements, and ensuring engineering activities align with customer requirements and overall business objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate all engineering activities for the facility, including product design, process engineering, manufacturing support, testing, and continuous improvement.
\n
• Partner with Sales, Corporate Engineering, Operations, and other departments to identify, evaluate, plan, and secure new business opportunities.
\n
• Direct the development of new products and processes as well as modifications and improvements to existing designs.
\n
• Lead engineering initiatives focused on improving manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost.
\n
• Develop and implement process changes to support operational and customer requirements.
\n
• Work closely with plant leadership and production teams to evaluate the feasibility, cost effectiveness, capacity requirements, and customer demand associated with new and existing products.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that positively impact plant profitability, operational performance, scrap, labor efficiency, and overall cost.
\n
• Provide technical leadership and problem-solving support for manufacturing and production issues.
\n
• Develop and oversee engineering testing procedures and ensure appropriate validation of new or modified products and processes.
\n
• Establish departmental priorities and ensure engineering projects are completed according to schedule, budget, quality, and customer requirements.
\n
• Forecast departmental operating costs and prepare and manage engineering budget requests.
\n
• Build strong working relationships across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Sales, and other functional areas.
\n
• Maintain a positive, team-oriented approach and demonstrate professionalism and integrity at all times.
\n
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
\n
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and flexibility to work additional hours as required to support business and operational needs.
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• Engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
\n
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product development, and process improvement.
\n
• Experience leading engineering projects from concept through implementation and production.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement cost reduction and productivity improvements.
\n
• Experience supporting new product or new business launches.
\n
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to evaluate technical feasibility, manufacturing capability, cost, and business impact.
\n
• Strong leadership and team-development capabilities.
\n
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with plant leadership, customers, corporate engineering, sales, production, and other cross-functional teams.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
\n

Education & Experience:

\n
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
\n
• Relevant engineering and manufacturing experience required.
\n
• Previous engineering leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
\n
• An equivalent combination of education, technical experience, and leadership experience may be considered.
