COST ESTIMATOR / ENGINEER – MECHANICAL

COMPENSATION: $70.00 per hour W2 (+ per diem available)

LOCATION: Boise, ID 83716

DURATION: 12-Months (Contract-To-Hire)

MISC: Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance options available on Day-1 and 401(k) on Day-90.

SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

Insight Global is hiring Mechanical Cost Estimators/Engineers to support the Micron semiconductor expansion project in Boise, ID. This role will focus on construction cost management and change order review for Wet or Dry Mechanical scopes. Candidates do not need experience with both. You’ll work closely with construction teams, contractors, and project controls to review change orders, validate labor and material costs, verify scope against drawings and specifications, and help ensure project costs remain accurate and well-supported.

Responsibilities:

• Review and validate contractor change orders for Wet or Dry Mechanical / MEP scopes.
• Evaluate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and schedule-related costs.
• Use Bluebeam Revu for drawing reviews, quantity takeoffs, and scope verification.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and contract documents to validate pricing.
• Use Procore and Excel to track change orders, costs, and supporting documentation.
• Identify pricing discrepancies, scope gaps, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Partner with contractors, construction managers, project managers, and project controls teams to resolve cost and scope issues.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years of construction cost engineering, estimating, project controls, or change order experience.
• Experience supporting Wet Mechanical OR Dry Mechanical construction scopes.
• Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, semiconductor fab, data center, or advanced manufacturing construction.
• Experience reviewing and validating contractor change orders and estimates.
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, ductwork, piping, plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with construction cost analysis.
• Ability to review construction drawings and documentation and confidently work through contractor pricing.

NICE-TO-HAVE

• Semiconductor fab and/or advanced manufacturing construction experience.
• Owner-side cost engineering or project controls experience.
• Experience with Procore, Primavera P6, or similar project controls software.
• Experience across both Wet and Dry Mechanical scopes.

Compensation:

$70.00/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
