Mobile Diesel Mechanic II- Class C License

Job Overview Location: Chicago, IL Compensation: $26.73 - $40.10 per hour (plus potential commission or incentive program) Travel: 100% of the time Work shift: Variable Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan, clutch, differential, engine, transmission, and other systems. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck components using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic equipment. Perform road tests to identify malfunctions and confirm proper vehicle operation. Assess problems, evaluate alternatives, and apply sound judgment to determine solutions. Manage parts inventory on company‑issued service trucks, perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain the service vehicle, including safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Communicate effectively with clients and customers to understand needs and resolve issues. Prioritize tasks and manage daily schedule with independence. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed. Document all work according to company standards, uploading photos and parts information via the proprietary TRAIT application on an iOS device. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly. Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies, as well as OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High‑school diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience (or an advanced degree/certification with 5 years of experience). Possess necessary hand tools required for job duties. ASE T8 (PMI)

certification within 18 months. Pass DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical. Provide a valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining, or complete a DOT physical if less. Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver's license for the state of residence.
