About the Position

Summary: The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides prompt, high-level nursing care in a fast-paced emergency department environment. This role includes evaluating patient conditions, initiating urgent treatment plans, delivering critical interventions, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient, patient-focused care. The ER RN must demonstrate strong clinical expertise, sound judgment, clear communication under pressure, and a commitment to patient safety and professional standards. Key Responsibilities: Perform rapid patient assessments and triage upon arrival, prioritizing care based on acuity Communicate procedures and treatment plans clearly to patients and their families Administer medications and therapies in accordance with emergency nursing protocols and standards Prepare necessary equipment and assist physicians during examinations and emergency interventions Monitor patient condition, comfort, and safety throughout their stay in the emergency department Observe, evaluate, and document patient status within scope of practice Measure and track vital signs, using clinical judgment to address abnormalities and prevent complications Respond effectively to critical and life-threatening situations following established emergency guidelines Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) Provide patient education tailored to individual needs within the context of acute care Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, specialists, EMS personnel, social workers, and support staff Complete additional duties within scope of practice as assigned Follow all hospital safety procedures, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong critical thinking, commitment to quality care, and effective interpersonal communication skills Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to interpret written materials, follow verbal instructions, and use computer systems effectively Physical ability to remain stationary for extended periods, move throughout the department, and handle equipment weighing 50–100 lbs, including pushing, pulling, and bending Ability to work collaboratively with diverse healthcare personnel while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude Fine motor skills and coordination needed for patient care tasks and equipment use Capacity to manage frequent patient interaction in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines Ability to work independently as well as under occasional supervision Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and maintain attention to detail Adequate visual acuity and communication ability to perform duties safely and effectively
