This position works under direction and requires thorough knowledge of the electrician trade. Responsibilities include acting as lead worker over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. The role also involves installing, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment, determining and completing materials needed, cost estimates, and submitting requests to purchase, reading blueprints and/or schematic diagrams, maintaining inventory of electrical supplies, maintaining tool count of tools used by incarcerated individuals, performing other maintenance and/or miscellaneous duties, ensuring compliance with security regulations, installing, troubleshooting, testing, modifying, and/or maintaining basic telecommunications and/or electronic data processing equipment in an institutional setting, serving on institutional committees, attending training, seminars, and/or meetings, performing security functions as required, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include 18 months of training or 18 months of verifiable experience in electrical work under supervision of an experienced electrician; formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and in reading and writing common English vocabulary. Alternatively, 6 months of experience as Electrician 1, 52281, or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above are required. Job skills include electrical trade, general maintenance, problem solving, flexibility, and time management.
