Senior Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description As a Senior Maintenance Mechanic you will perform the maintenance, preventive, and corrective maintenance of the production manufacturing equipment in the Los Angeles Manufacturing Plant. Shift Details Night Shift (Monday‑Friday 10:00pm‑6:30am) How you will contribute Prepare detailed documented work orders. Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of critical plant equipment on a regular basis, including production equipment, critical systems, sterilization equipment and electrical control systems in both cGMP and non‑cGMP areas. Repair or replace the mechanical, electrical and controls components of manufacturing and sterilization equipment as assigned. Apply building, plumbing, piping, electrical and fire protection practices and codes, including NEC, UBC, and Takeda EH&S and Factory Mutual requirements. Follow safety rules and comply with L.A. City, CA state and federal EPA regulations and laws, including building and safety, SCAQMD, Bureau of Sanitation, and OSHA regulations. Conduct a multi‑craft duty within the business unit. Verify mechanical and electrical drawings for accuracy, perform SOP job plans and draw redlines as necessary. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair critical equipment, including plant equipment, filtration systems, centrifugation equipment, pumps, sterilization systems, and electrical controls such as indicators, distribution, VFDs, motors, and control systems. Assist the Reliability Engineering Group in equipment failure root cause analysis with prompt resolution. Support engineering projects such as equipment installation, commissioning, and validation. Cross‑train new employees and teammates. Attend required training and meetings. Dispose of hazardous waste. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body, including hearing protection as needed. Remove all make‑up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial nails while in the manufacturing environment. Work in a cold, wet environment. Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours as necessary. Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection. Lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs. Perform a combination of sedentary work and walking/observing conditions in the facility. Climb ladders and move in closed‑quarters, non‑manufacturing support areas. May be required to work in a confined area. Experience clean room and cool/hot storage conditions. What You Bring High school diploma or GED required; 4+ years of experience required. Strong knowledge of instrumentation and mechanical systems, such as controllers, indicators, control valves, PLC, analyzers, sensors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment including distribution, filtration systems, centrifuges, sterilization, autoclaves, process tanks, incubators and CIP/COP systems; PLC‑based process control systems; HMI configuration. Knowledge of Delta V and CMMS systems such as JDE, Maximo, SIP, RAM. Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures. Proficiency in mathematical disciplines; ability to work with metric and US standards. Ability to read and follow detailed instructions; good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of LOTO programs. Ability to read, write and interpret technical documents, electrical and mechanical drawings, equipment blueprints, and P&ID. Customer service and leadership attitude to take ownership of maintenance problems. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Self‑starter with independent work and good judgment; proactive, results‑oriented, and detail‑attentive. Ability to work overtime on short notice and support standby program. A.A./A.S. technical discipline or Journeyman skilled craft training/apprenticeship certificate or equivalent technical education and experience is highly desirable. Benefits U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $23.75‑$37.28 per hour. The actual wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, or licenses, and the location of employment.
