Insurance Producer (Washington DC-Baltimore Area)

An established insurance brokerage is growing its commercial insurance practice and seeking a producer who can develop new client relationships, advise businesses on risk, and build a long-term book of business. This opportunity offers the resources and market access of a larger platform while maintaining a collaborative, relationship-driven environment. Producers receive internal service support but retain meaningful ownership over business development, referral relationships, and the clients they bring into the firm.

About the Role

The Commercial Insurance Producer will generate new business, evaluate organizational risk, and recommend appropriate property and casualty coverage. This is a client-facing sales role for someone comfortable building relationships with business owners, executives, referral partners, carriers, and underwriters. The right person should want to originate business rather than solely manage existing accounts. They will be responsible for developing a pipeline, leading prospect conversations, coordinating market submissions, and helping clients make informed coverage decisions.

Responsibilities

• Generate commercial insurance opportunities through prospecting, referrals, networking, and strategic partnerships.
• Build relationships with business owners, executives, and centers of influence.
• Evaluate prospective clients’ operations, exposures, existing coverage, and business priorities.
• Recommend commercial insurance and risk-management solutions.
• Manage opportunities from initial outreach through submissions, proposals, and placement.
• Collaborate with carriers and underwriters on coverage options, pricing, renewals, and complex risks.
• Maintain strong client relationships and identify additional coverage opportunities.
• Partner with internal service professionals to support client needs and deliverables.
• Track prospecting activity, pipeline, follow-up, and revenue through the CRM.
• Remain current on insurance products, carrier appetites, regulations, and emerging risks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial insurance sales, production, account management, or related B2B insurance experience.
• Commercial lines agency experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success developing new business or expanding client relationships.
• Working knowledge of commercial coverage, underwriting considerations, and risk analysis.
• Ability to prospect independently and maintain an active pipeline.
• Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and business judgment.
• Active Property and Casualty Insurance License, or ability to obtain the appropriate license.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• College degree and additional insurance licensing are preferred but not required.
