This person manages the Drivetrain Procurement New Production Introduction sourcing across all verticals to deliver customer aligned strategic sourcing solutions aligned to NPI and Product expectations.What You Will Do: Accountable for the development, communication, and implementation of a worldwide sourcing strategy for Drivetrain NPI Sourcing ExecutionIdentifying performance gaps within the supply base and ensuring NPI strategyUtilizing the QCLDM supplier development and measurement tool to ensure an ongoing improvement plan is in effect with key suppliers.Evaluating sustainable strategic options; deciding on a course of action and implementation.What You Will Have:Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.Level Extensive Experience:Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Level Extensive Experience:Reviews others' writing or presentations and provides feedback and coaching.Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.Communicates well downward, upward, and outward.Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.Maintains focus on the topic at hand.Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.Level Extensive Experience:Ensures negotiators have awareness of complementary yet diverse interests.Successfully completes significant negotiations, both internal and external.Details the risks of negotiation breakdown from each party's perspective.Protects own position, while demonstrating willingness to achieve win-win.Identifies similarities and differences in position and assesses impact on discussions.Detects and addresses lack of progress or a stalemate.Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.Level Extensive Experience:Participates in monitoring the execution for all stages of the strategic sourcing process.Trains others on strategic sourcing in multiple and diverse environments.Designs and develops standard supplier agreements and procurement policies with standardized terms and conditions.Works with complex strategic sourcing components including but not limited to negotiations, contracting, and continuous process improvement and implementation.Consults on strategic sourcing methods in relation to business relationships, inter-dependencies and integration.Develops and explains strategic sourcing best practices and rationale for the organization and industry.Additional Information:Sponsorship is not availableRelocation is not available.Travel is less than 10% of the occasional international.Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
