Part-Time Line Cook

Hanley Foundation is a West Palm Beach-based non-profit organization that aims to eliminate addiction through prevention, treatment, advocacy, and recovery support. We are seeking a part-time Line Cook to join our growing team at our substance use/mental health treatment facility (20 hours per week).

The Line Cook prepares, cooks, portions, and serves meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, and service schedules to support quality food service operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook, portion, and serve menu items in accordance with established recipes, production standards, and quality expectations.
• Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.
• Maintain adequate food quantities during meal service based on daily census, menu requirements, and operational needs.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area including but not limited to walk-in and reach-in refrigerators, tables, shelves, grills, ovens, fryers, steamers, racks, and sinks.
• Correctly store, handle, and rotate food items.
• Safely operate, clean, and assist in maintaining kitchen equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and facility procedures.
• Assist in the correct storage of food items during delivery.
• Promptly report all repair needs to the supervisor.
• Handle food in accordance with ServSafe standards, local health regulations, and facility policies.
• Monitor food temperatures in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Assist with meal preparation, production, and service for special events or facility needs.
• Comply with the department's dress code, personal hygiene, and safety attire standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Uphold all Hanley Foundation Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain client/potential client confidentiality in accordance with Hanley Policy.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a kitchen and food service environment. This role routinely involves preparing, cooking, portioning, and serving food; using commercial kitchen equipment and utensils; and working near hot surfaces, ovens, grills, fryers, steamers, refrigerators, freezers, sinks, and other food service equipment.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods; communicate effectively; use hands and arms to prepare and serve food; and operate kitchen equipment. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying are required. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move heavier items with assistance. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Shifts: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM

Requirements

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Culinary degree or at least two (2) years of working experience in a similar position.
• Hold a valid ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or equivalent food handler certification.
• Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license, as driving between buildings may be required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, patients, visitors, and other facility staff.
• Ability to stay focused and productive in a demanding environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• A varied knowledge of different cuisines and basic nutrition.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation standards, cross-contamination prevention, allergen awareness, and proper food storage and labeling practices.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• A commitment to serving quality food with quality service.
• Ability to solve problems, be organized, and be self-motivated.
• Offer polite, friendly customer service.
• Must be able to use basic tools for the position.
• Must be flexible with schedule to provide emergency and overtime service at times during unscheduled work hours.
