In this role, you’ll provide proactive incredible customer service as you assist customers in both traditional checkout and self-checkout lanes. You'll leave a lasting impression and transform first-time shoppers into loyal Wegmans customers! What will I do? Engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling; proactively offer additional assistance, thank customers for shopping at Wegmans When on register, efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments Properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store When in self-checkout area, manage traffic flow, direct customers to available lanes, ensure the lanes are in good working order and assist customers with system troubleshooting Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space At Wegmans, we’ve always believed we can achieve our goals only if we first fulfill the needs of our people. Experience operating a cash register; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as light to medium. Work includes repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, occasional bending, frequent reaching, moving and lifting, frequent to constant turning to the left, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 12 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds occasionally. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors.
