This position offers Health Insurance Benefits Currently: Days and hours as needed - currently 180 days per year, 6 hours per day Reports to: Director of Operations or designee Salary: $24.28 - $28.11 Bus Driver

Qualifications

1. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
2. High School diploma or equivalent.
3. Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
4. Must meet all school bus driver requirements set forth in State law and by the Ohio Department of Education.
5. Demonstrated competence for assigned responsibilities.
6. Industrial or institutional experience in facilities maintenance preferred.
7. Valid boiler license where required.
8. Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
9. Residence in the taxing district of Alliance City Schools is preferred.
10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities & Job Functions

1. Obeys all State and Local traffic laws and all rules and regulations as outlined in the Ohio Pupil Transportation Rules and Regulations Handbook.
2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations including the mandatory use of seat belts.
3. Inspects the bus each day according to the Ohio Pre-trip Inspection regulations.
4. Enforces the adopted Board of Education Discipline Policy and reports all undisciplined students in the appropriate format to the appropriate District administrator.
5. Maintains an up to seating chart and route sheets for all routes.
6. Operates the assigned bus over the route and time schedule assigned by the transportation department.
7. Discharges students only at authorized stops unless approved by the Director of Operations or designee.
8. Transports only authorized students unless given specific permission by the Director of Operations or designee.
9. Provides transportation when needed for all extra trips.
10. Notifies the bus garage dispatch immediately in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
11. Reports all accidents, injuries, motor vehicle accidents or other safety concerns immediately to the bus garage dispatch.
12. Cleans the interior of the bus daily and the exterior as needed.
13. Parks the bus in the designated area.
14. Attends all school bus suspension or expulsion hearings as directed.
15. Maintain and submit all forms and records as required by the Director of Operations or designee.
16. Report daily to the Director of Operations or mechanic on the appropriate forms any safety or mechanical defect of the vehicle.
17. Use the CB radio only when necessary for official school business and in accordance with District guidelines.
18. Maintains the highest standard for safety and cleanliness while performing the duties according to all Federal, State, Local and Administrative guidelines and regulations.
19. Keep the bus in clean, safe and maximum operating condition.
20. Maintain a friendly helpful attitude toward students, employees and the public
21. Never leave in an emergency situation without specific authorization from the Director of Operations.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Attend meetings and in-services as required by Board Policy, the Superintendent or designee, or the State Department of Education.
2. Ensure the safety of the students and report any safety concern, confrontation, complication or conflict immediately to the Director of Operations.
3. Follow all district policies and procedures as defined in the employee code of conduct and negotiated agreements.
4. Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students, parents and the public.
5. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information.
6. Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy.
7. Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation.
8. Access and respond to e-mails on a daily basis.
9. Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner.
10. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, Superintendent or designee.

Equipment & Operation Knowledge:

1. Telephones and copy machine
2. Computer system and software programs
3. Working knowledge of all transportation equipment including school bus, wheelchair lift (if applicable), CB radio, etc.

1. Occasional interaction among unruly children
2. Frequent repetitive hand motion
3. Frequent excessive sitting during assigned workday
4. Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see (ability to see color), read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel, and stoop
5. Frequent requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 70 pounds
6. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles or dangerous chemicals
7. Frequent operation of a vehicle under normal and inclement weather conditions
8. Frequent requirement to travel, e.g., to meetings, etc.
9. Occasional evening/weekend/summer work
10. Occasional requirement to work overtime
11. Occasional exposure to extreme heat and cold
