The CNC Turn/Lathe Operator reports to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures related to the various parts and equipment they are trained and certified to operate. Operators are also tasked with loading and unloading parts to meet production demands, inspecting parts with different precision measuring tools, accepting or rejecting parts based on quality, and communicating any changes verbally and in writing. Essential Tasks Operate regular (horizontal) or VTL (vertical) lathe machines Analyze and interpret Op sheets, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and travelers to produce products that meet or exceed customer specifications Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to customer specifications, using precision measuring tools and equipment as necessary (micrometers, calipers, gauges [pin, thread, indicator, height], optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines [CMM]) Maintain working knowledge of CNC principles, including G and M codes Maintain working knowledge of rotary/linear axes Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, tooling, and workpieces on machines as necessary to machine parts as required Analyze and interpret CMM reports and properly offset machine dimensions to meet customer specifications Perform deburring operations to within specified tolerances Document actions by updating control charts, travelers, and reporting labor in the ERP system Perform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation Maintain a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping duties Any other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization’s values Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment Effective communication and people skills to maintain a working relationship with Quality, Engineering, and Management Dependability, integrity, cooperation, and taking the initiative for work responsibilities and challenges are critical Always take ownership and be accountable for your actions Reliable attendance and a respectful demeanor are necessary Follow all Hi-Tek policies and procedures, including the use of proper PPE Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required CNC Machining certificate from a Trade School or acceptable work experience in lieu of schooling Must meet the definition of a "U.S. person" under ITAR, as set forth in 22 C.F.R. §120.62. Lathe, Shaft, or turning experience required - Min 5 yrs Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, aerospace industry strongly preferred Experience with G & M codes preferred Key Competencies The ability to work efficiently with others or independently as required Integrity and conscientiousness in all work-related matters Safety-conscious always Reliable attendance within acceptable standards of attendance policy Complex problem-solving with critical math skills Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English Must be able to clearly communicate information to others verbally and in writing in English Physical Demand Levels Lift, push, and/or pull up to thirty-five pounds regularly Operate overhead crane or other lifting equipment when necessary Stand at least 95% of the scheduled shift Walking or climbing stairs as needed to perform job duties as assigned Routinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and materials Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 20/20 vision (natural or corrected) required with the ability to pass annual vision test as required Shift: Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am Pay: Up to $30+/hour, based on experience Hi-Tek is a drug-free workplace that conducts pre-employment drug and background and random drug screenings.
