Department: College of Advanced Manufacturing & Skilled Trades Reports To: Associate Dean LOCATION: Green Bay, WI- Position requires availability to instruct on campus and in flexible delivery modes. STANDARD HOURS: Flexibility in schedule is required for day, night or weekend classes as needed. SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS: $75,300 - $80,000 based on a standard contract obligation of approximately 176 days Benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, are provided year round Additional compensation can be earned through extra contractual work, above the standard contract obligations as available. *Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity. POSITION SUMMARY Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is an innovative leading-edge college dedicated to student success. An instructor continually improves the overall quality in the delivery of learning to support the achievement of college outcomes and priorities utilizing evidence to support decision-making. It is our commitment as a College to ensure that we invest the resources necessary to positively impact teaching and student success. Consistent with this commitment all new faculty are required to successfully complete the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Instructor Preparation Academy. The Academy is a structured, practical, course-based cohort learning experience during first three years of employment. Courses include teaching and learning strategies, guidance and counseling, curriculum development, assessment, diversity, and more. The details of the schedule will be made available upon hire. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and continually revise curriculum required development and routine revision of curriculum that includes adaptation of curriculum to college delivery standards, strategic directions, employer/advisory feedback, and industry/regulatory standards. This also includes but is not limited to Open Educational Resources (OER), textbook change, assessment plan, credit for prior learning assessment tools, and employability skills. Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom. Create learning experiences which integrate multiple alternative or emerging delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, including, but not limited to, hybrid, face-to-face, video conferencing, self-paced, and on-line course delivery. Provide immediate, routine, and consistent feedback to students to assist them in improving performance in technical and core ability competencies. Create a learning environment that integrates best practices for student success including authentic service learning, student club events, and engagement in profession specific activities. Develop, support, participate and collaborate with other departments on student recruitment, program marketing, and referral of students as needed for student success strategies including tutoring, counseling, advising, etc. Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence. Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery. Engage with business and industry through engagement and participation in advisory committees, including the recruitment of new members, planning of meetings, participation in community groups, and business visits. Participate in community and college-sponsored events to promote the college's programs and enhance community relationships. Engage in division, department and team meetings and requirements including the development and completion of the college's strategic planning through team action plans and budget requests Maintain proficient knowledge and skill in emerging trends and current occupational practices by networking with regional industry leaders and participating in continuing education and professional development. Assist in the development of adjunct faculty through communication, sharing of resources, coaching and mentoring. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements, faculty progression structure requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Manage classroom and lab to ensure students acquire necessary skills for employment while learning in a safe environment. Provide continuous emphasis of safe work practices related to electricity, metering, and field work. Course emphasis will be on Utilities apprenticeship programs- Meter Tech, Line worker. Provide instruction and technical support to NWTC Corporate Training and Economic Development. Scout and procure equipment to upgrade technology and equipment used, both purchases and donations, to stay current with industry standards, practices, and challenges. Arrange for equipment maintenance, repairs, and transport to and from. Continue education and promote NWTC apprenticeship programs through attendance and participation in regional meter schools and conferences. Communicate with and visit sponsoring utilities for continuing review of course content and curriculum. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE Completion of Apprenticeship Program OR Journey level in subject area OR Associate's degree in related field and five years of direct occupational experience. Occupational experience may include positions such as: Meter Technician Line worker Utility Engineer Specific on the job experience in: Troubleshooting and repair of electrical meters. Installation, testing and maintenance of electric meter, instrument transformers, and communication devices. Install and repairing wiring systems, switches, main switchboards, alternating current (AC) circuits and direct current (DC) circuits. Electrical Print reading. Using hand and power tools. Using specialized testing equipment to ensure proper working order of machines and equipment. AC and DC circuit theory, power calculation, and vector analysis. NESC and NEC Electrical Safety codes Electrical Power Distribution System Basics including transformer connections and system protection. Protective Relaying Utility service rules and tariffs, and regulatory requirements of PSC 113. Interconnection metering for distrusted generation systems. Power quality standards, measurements, and analysis. Meter data collection, including Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) and other meter communication methods. This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing in accordance with College policy. Successful completion of all required screenings is a condition of employment. In addition, must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery. May be required to work from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding. Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hands and fingers to handle or operate office equipment, tools, controls, and/or heavy equipment and machinery. Capability to push, pull, and/or maneuver equipment as needed. PPE: To wear and work in personnel protective equipment as needed Heavy Lifting: Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Visual and Auditory: Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.
