Lead Automation Technician

New manufacturing site: Concord, NC, will use high‑tech, fully automated equipment for parenteral production. Responsibilities The Lead Automation Technician supports automated equipment performance, provides first‑line support to production processes, and assists with engineering initiatives, process improvements, and project implementation. The role requires expertise in commissioning, qualification, validation, and equipment‑specific code or control system technologies. Key Objectives/Deliverables Ensure operational and maintenance procedures reflect safety concerns. Perform activities in accordance with cGMPs and applicable procedures. Identify opportunities to improve quality using equipment performance data and to ensure maintenance is performed appropriately. Communicate effectively with all levels to plan and coordinate projects and repairs with minimal disruption. Work with process teams to develop equipment design, procedures, engineering studies, and maintenance practices that support process operation. Seek opportunities to improve equipment operational effectiveness and reliability. Provide technical support to engineering by investigating and resolving production‑delay issues, transferring knowledge of equipment capabilities, implementing operational tools, coordinating contractors and vendors, creating maintenance action plans, participating in equipment reviews, and executing small projects for process or equipment improvements or changes. Minimum Requirements Associate’s Degree (or equivalent work experience). Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship will be provided. Additional Preferences Experience working safely in a participative environment. Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment. Experience with instrumentation, PLC and/or HMI programming. Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk SE programming experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and technical document drafting. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities. Strong interpersonal and customer‑service communication skills. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and supporting HSE corporate and site goals. Previous experience with highly automated equipment. Familiarity with B&R platform is a plus. Knowledge of parenteral equipment and manufacturing operations. Experience with Maximo or similar computerized maintenance management systems. Compensation & Benefits Actual compensation depends on education, experience, skills, and geographic location: $33.89 – $49.71 per hour.
