We are recruiting for a multi-skilled Shift Engineer to join our reliability maintenance engineering team at Nestle Purina, Sudbury.At Purina PetCare, we are passionately committed to helping pets enjoy happier, healthier, and longer lives because we are pet owners too. Our Sudbury factory employs a workforce of 200, producing some of the UK’s most popular brands, including Go-Cat, Bakers, Purina ONE, BETA, and Pro Plan. You could play a key role in this exciting transformation.Your Impact As a Shift Engineer you will be instrumental in maintaining the operational efficiency of our manufacturing processes. Your role will focus on ensuring that machinery is in optimal condition, fostering a safe work environment, and driving continuous improvements. You will collaborate closely with various teams to enhance productivity and uphold the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities:Machine Maintenance: Maintain the basic condition of the machines within your line and perform improvement activities, as well as repairing breakdowns.Safety Culture: Drive a safe culture and eliminate safety risks within the workplace.Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products are manufactured according to quality standards. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous excellence and improvements in key operational business processes throughout manufacturing.Collaboration: As a key member of the Maintenance Working Groups (MWG), collaborate with the Autonomous Working Groups (AWG-production teams) to drive improvements using tools such as inspections, abnormalities identification, centerlining, breakdown analysis, and preventive and predictive maintenance. Your ingredients for successTo be successful as a multi-skilled shift engineer, you will need a foundation of experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering, along with a commitment to safety and quality.Other key attributes include: Engineering Qualification: Educated to apprenticeship level NVQ 3 or hold a recognised engineering qualification in both mechanical and electrical engineering.Continuous Improvement: A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to implement enhancements in processes.Preventative Maintenance: Knowledge of planned preventative asset maintenance practices.Problem-Solving Skills: Familiarity with root cause analysis tools and problem-solving methodologies.Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing tools, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).Mechanical Comprehension: Proven mechanical comprehension and awareness of food safety and food handling standards.Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Ability to understand and adhere to strict hygiene rules and safety compliance standards.What we need you to know We will be considering candidates as they apply and we will occasionally close job advertisements early in the event we receive sufficient applicants, so please don’t delay in submitting your application.At Nestlé, our values are rooted in respect and we believe that embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment allows everyone to reach their full potential and drives innovative thinking.
