POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

The STEM Program Coordinator supports the goals of the NSF S-STEM grant, UWF STEM Scholars, and the UWF STEM Living Learning Community (STEM LLC) by designing, implementing, and evaluating the Resilient STEM Students Program (RSSP) to enhance student well-being, persistence, and academic success. Drawing on a background in community support and wellness, this position provides non-clinical student support, coordinates academic and wellness programming, and leverages data to guide evidence-based interventions.

Flexible work schedule, with some evenings required for student events. The best fit is someone who does not mind working a flexible schedule.

In accordance with UWF Human Resources Policy HR-20.03-02/25, Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment, a time-limited appointment is a position funded by contract and grant, auxiliary, or local fund, for a project for a specific period. A time-limited position shall have the same rights as a regular position except that the position is not entitled to notice of separation at the expiration of the appointment and shall not have layoff and recall rights.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in social work, counseling, education, psychology, student affairs, or STEM field.

Experience:
● Demonstrated experience in student support, case management, or advising within higher education.
● Knowledge of wellness education, survey administration, and program evaluation methodologies.
● Familiarity with at-risk or first-generation college student populations preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
● Ability to interpret and present data for decision-making.
● Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
● Collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams.

Proficiency in using the following applications:
● Google drive

● Various social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of principles and practice with case management, basic needs, program development and event planning. Strong experience working with undergraduate students on conflict resolution and interpersonal communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:

• 40% - Program Design and Implementation: Plan and implement non-clinical programmatic components, including resource navigation, student consultation, survey administration, wellness education initiatives for peer mentors, attend and lead monthly cohort meetings, and design and present mental health /wellness seminars. Earn certification as a trainer for Mental Health First Aid to train STEM faculty, staff, and peer mentors. Coordinate day-to-day logistics, including scheduling, communications, and documentation related to Resilient STEM Students Program (RSSP) for NSF-funded S-STEM, UWF STEM Scholars and STEM LLC activities. - (Essential)
• 20% - Collaboration and Outreach: Partner with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and other campus units to create holistic support structures that foster student resilience and success. - (Essential)
• 20% - Student Support Coordination: Meet with assigned support plan students on a regular (biweekly or monthly) basis to monitor progress, address challenges, and connect students to appropriate resources. Provide basic needs support, responding quickly and appropriately to challenges and/or crisis referrals as needed. - (Essential)
• 10% - Survey Coordination and Data Management: Administer and coordinate MHI-5, GRIT, and ASM-C surveys among program participants. Collect, clean, and organize survey data to support program evaluation and reporting. - (Essential)
• 5% - Data Analysis and Reporting: Evaluate quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for intervention; prepare summary reports for the grant team and institutional stakeholders. - (Essential)
• 5% - Program Assessment and Improvement: Use assessment findings to refine program design, develop new initiatives, and build evidence-based programming that supports student success and retention. - (Essential)
