Job Summary Assembles and/or fits together parts to form subassemblies and/or complete units. Essential Job Functions Performs a variety of tasks, which require knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools, and equipment. Interprets and follows manufacturing orders. Operates shop related machinery to include torque wrench, pneumatic tools, hand tools, and scales. Supports zero defects and a right‑the‑first‑time approach. Inspects finished products for conformance to specifications. May work from verbal instructions. Complies with established safety directives. Maintains a clean work area and adheres to the 5S Standards. Complies with established QMS procedures. Other duties may be assigned. Demonstrates a basic understanding of aircraft drawings and schematics. Proficiently executes basic FOD (Foreign Object Prevention) practices. Performs basic safety wire installation and wire soldering procedures. Assists others during ATP (Aircraft Test Procedures) process. Assists senior Aircraft Assemblers with installation of components during aircraft buildup at fuselage and assembly levels. Assembles aircraft parts and sub‑assemblies. May work from engineering drawings, rough sketches, and/or manuals. Rivets both solid and blind rivets. Installs safety wire and electronic components. May perform electronic assembly soldering, crimping, splicing, harness fabrication, and control panel building. Consistently performs to established production standards. Reads and understands electronic schematics. Uses electronic and testing equipment. Prepares and installs wire harnesses and electronic assemblies. Assists in troubleshooting aircraft as needed. Performs repairs as directed by Engineering and Supervision. Trains less experienced assemblers in proper assembly of aircraft. Follows ATP practices. Consistently meets or exceeds established production standards. Supervisory Responsibility None. Experience and Skills Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards. Interact effectively with peers and supervisors. Interact appropriately with the public when necessary. Adhere to workplace rules. Use precision hand tools (a plus). Demonstrate adequate basic math skills. Use a tape measure accurately. Understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions. Require high school education or equivalent. Typical qualifications include basic math skills, documentation skills, basic computer skills, developing knowledge of materials, operating equipment, and understanding of KUAS’ Assembly Processes. Perform basic lamination repairs. Intermediate qualifications include math, documentation, computer skills, equipment operation, process and procedure adherence, and understanding of KUAS Quality System. Advanced qualifications include additional math, documentation, computer skills, equipment operation, process and procedure knowledge, repair and troubleshooting expertise, and adherence to KUAS Quality System. Education & Experience Preferred: Preferably 2 years of hands‑on experience in assembly production. Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in electromechanical assembly. Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in electromechanical assembly. Work Environment/Physical Requirements Ability to stand and sit for long periods. Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and working from slightly elevated surfaces. Manipulating materials using hands and arms. Use of various hand tools. Occasionally lifts and carries heavy objects. Can lift 50 pounds. May work extended hours and/or weekends. Exposure to noise and hazardous chemicals possible.
