Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Profession: RN

Specialty: Digestive Health Procedures

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Day

Hours per Shift: 9 hours (Monday through Friday, with one day off to be determined later)

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience

License: Current RN license in good standing

Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association)

Must-Have:

- Endoscopy experience


- Excellent organizational skills

Description:

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.

The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and available resources within the institution's philosophy.

Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit, specific to the scope of service.

Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.

Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.

Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.

Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.

Modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation.

Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.

Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.

Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.

Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.

Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.

Prepares patients for procedures.

Completes assessments, reviews health histories, starts IVs, and provides education to patients.

Monitors and sedates patients during procedures.

Cares for patients in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.

Assists with cases requiring anesthesia involvement.

Defines, directs, supervises, and evaluates patient care directly and via delegation to others using the nursing process.
