About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PACU Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, PALS Must-Have: Ideal candidate will have experience with Post Anesthesia Recovery, including General, Regional, and Conscious Sedation recovery for all age ranges and patient types. Candidate must work three twelve-hour shifts a week, plus cover call in the current call rotation. This includes two to three weeknight call shifts in a four-week schedule and every fourth weekend. Candidate must rotate monthly between day and night shifts, and must be in the unit within 30 minutes when called. Description: Candidate must demonstrate knowledge and experience with drains, including cranial, spinal, hemovacs, and chest tubes. Airway management skills, including OAW, NAW, OETT, and extubation, are essential. Experience with ventilators, trach care, and OETT care is required. Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring is necessary. Candidate must understand malignant hyperthermia. Familiarity with post-operative pain management, nausea management, and blood pressure medications is important. Candidate should possess knowledge and understanding of medications used during general anesthesia. Experience with initiation and maintenance of drips, including heparin, sedation, and pressers, is necessary. Candidate must have skills in fundal massages and post-partum hemorrhage management. Knowledge of common OB complications and their management is required. Maintenance of bladder irrigation is essential. Vascular skills should include post-operative carotid care, as well as neuro assessments, sheath removal, and site monitoring. Experience with A-lines maintenance and removal is necessary. Candidate should be familiar with common surgical procedures across various specialties, including critical care, pediatrics, OB/GYN, cardiac, ortho/neuro, general, urology, plastics, and ENT. Experience in PACU procedures such as cardioversions, TEEs, blood patches, lines, and blocks is required. Knowledge of charting systems is needed. Candidate must have the ability to provide high-quality care in an acute care setting.
