This is a hands-on product design role for an engineer or designer with experience taking fabricated metal products from concept through production.Location: Wood Dale, IL 60191Salary: $75,000–$90,000Hire Type: Direct HireBenefits: Medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), bonus opportunity, paid time off, paid holidays, and additional company benefits.What You’ll DoDesign and develop custom fabricated metal products and assembliesCreate detailed production drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly printsDevelop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)Design parts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorksWork with sheet metal and other fabricated metal componentsTranslate concepts and customer requirements into manufacturable designsWork directly with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs can be efficiently fabricated and assembledRevise drawings and designs based on production feedback, customer requirements, and project changesSupport prototype builds, testing, and new product developmentReview designs for manufacturability, cost, material usage, and ease of assemblyManage multiple design projects and engineering prioritiesSupport continuous improvement and value engineering initiativesWhat We’re Looking For3+ years of mechanical design, product design, or design engineering experience within a manufacturing environmentExperience designing fabricated metal products, sheet metal components, or mechanical assembliesStrong experience creating production drawings and assembly drawingsExperience developing and maintaining BOMsProficiency with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorksUnderstanding of metal fabrication and manufacturing processesAbility to design with manufacturability and assembly in mindComfortable working directly with manufacturing and production teamsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
