Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Must be willing to work days or nights as determined by facility needs Hours per Shift: 36 hours guaranteed Experience: Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Current licensure in the state of employment is required Certifications: A valid driver's license is required Must-Have: - Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing - Current Registered Nurse license Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing Licensed Independent Provider orders, dispensing, and administering medications. The RN assists Licensed Independent Providers in the examination and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care and treatment of residents. The RN performs all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure. They apply appropriate nursing skills in the treatment of residents. The RN attends sick calls with the physician to see residents and prepares examination rooms and equipment. They operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as required by applicable policies and procedures. The RN contacts Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders, and responds to emergencies. They examine and assess new residents with illnesses or injuries. The RN refers residents to emergency rooms or other appropriate healthcare facilities as required. Emergency procedures are performed as needed, and the Licensed Independent Provider is notified for treatment orders. The RN assists in coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel. Effective communication and teamwork with facility staff, nursing staff, and outside provider agencies are essential. The RN utilizes established corporate and facility policies in decision-making, exercising sound independent judgment. Regular evaluation of the provision of medical services is required to prevent inappropriate use or duplication. The RN maintains confidentiality of all medical records at all times. They assist in reviewing medical files to ensure all services provided are documented. Close monitoring of all potential catastrophic illnesses is essential. The RN audits pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as directed. Compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances, is required. Observation and recording of resident behavior is a critical task. The RN inspects the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband, securely storing or disposing of supplies appropriately. Health counseling and education is provided on an individual or group basis as required. The RN assists with the preparation and maintenance of various standard records, reports, and logs. They read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, and legal documents. Processing and responding to lawsuits may be required, including attending court hearings when necessary. Accreditation processes for medical programs are facilitated as needed. The RN prepares and disseminates safety and accident reports as required. They take appropriate action in cases of serious incidents and emergencies.
