Entry-Level Product Designer - Soft Goods Product Development

Itzy Ritzy is a leading juvenile and lifestyle brand creating innovative, high-quality baby products that bring together style, function, and thoughtful design. We create products that support parents and families through everyday moments, and we're looking for a collaborative Product Designer to join our growing design and product development team.

Position Overview

This entry-level Product Designer supports the design and development of juvenile soft goods including parent bags, kids’ bags, infant sleepwear, home goods, and related accessories from initial concept through production readiness. Working closely with senior designers and cross-functional teams, this role assists with product design, market research, trend analysis, technical development, and the day-to-day execution of products and collections under established brand and design direction.

The role identifies and applies relevant trends in color, print, pattern, materials, and lifestyle while building the technical skills needed to move products through the development process. Reporting to the Product Design Director, this position collaborates with Senior Designers, Product Development, Sourcing, Graphics, Packaging, Sales, and manufacturing resources to deliver cohesive product solutions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Support Product Design Directors and Senior Designers with the development of soft goods products from concept through production readiness
• Research competitive products, and emerging trends in fashion, color, pattern and lifestyle to help inform seasonal product direction and opportunities
• Organize and maintain color palettes, pattern libraries, materials and trims. 
• Assist in translating established seasonal concepts, color palettes, prints, patterns, materials and graphics into product solutions
• Create and update product sketches, technical drawings, renderings, and tech packs under the direction and review of design leadership
• Review prototypes with senior designers to evaluate construction, aesthetics, function, materials manufacturability and overall design intent
• Document and communicate sample revisions to internal and external partners, and update tech packs and related documents. 
• Maintain presentation materials throughout the development process, ensuring renderings, product descriptions, sketches, colorways and other visuals reflect all approved changes for design reviews, concept presentations and line reviews. 
• Organize product samples including tracking, documenting and maintaining samples in the office
• Support communication with overseas manufacturing partners regarding approved designs, specifications, technical requirements, and sample revisions
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Sales, Graphics, Packaging, Sourcing, and manufacturing partners to support cohesive collections and successful product execution
• Support multiple projects and development timelines concurrently while communicating progress, questions, and potential issues to senior design team members
• Participate in consumer research, focus groups, and product testing with parents and babies when appropriate, helping document observations and key learnings for the design team
• Work with external resources as needed

Product Focus

This role focuses on juvenile soft goods and lifestyle categories, including parent bags, kids’ bags, accessories, layette, nursery, home, and other trend-driven product initiatives. The designer supports both the creative and technical development of these categories, helping ensure products align with brand direction, consumer needs, quality expectations, and commercial objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Product Design, Textile Design, or a related field
• 0–5 years of relevant professional design experience, preferably in infant products, fashion accessories, childrenswear, home, textiles, or consumer products
• Strong foundational design and conceptual skills with an interest in fashion, trend, color, print, pattern, materials, and overall product aesthetic
• Ability to research and identify relevant trends and begin translating them appropriately for the brand, consumer, and product category
• Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Foundational skills in technical drawing, product specifications, technical documentation, and tech pack creation. Print and pattern development skills are a plus
• Interest in and working knowledge of AI-assisted visualization, rendering, and pattern-development tools
• Basic understanding of soft goods materials, construction, sewing techniques, manufacturing, and product development processes, with a willingness to learn
• Interest in learning how to work with global or overseas manufacturing partners and support prototype, sample review, revision, and production-readiness processes
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to support multiple projects and assigned tasks while managing timelines with guidance from senior design team members
• Experience with juvenile products, surface design, PLM systems, CAD, 3D visualization, and juvenile product safety requirements is a plus
• Portfolio demonstrating strong design fundamentals, creative thinking, visual communication, and relevant academic, internship, or professional projects
• Comfort working collaboratively with internal teams and external resources
