Job SummaryThe Mechanic/Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.Hours and WagesMonday-Friday, 11:00PM start $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience+$2.00 per hour shift differentialOccasional Saturdays, as needed for full-timePaid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per weekDuties and ResponsibilitiesAbility to use scan tool and laptop technologyFollow reasonable instructions from shift leaderAbility to work independently and/ or with teamPerform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipmentHelp maintain an effective and clean work environmentMust have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functionsPerform other related duties as assignedSkills and AbilitiesWelding and torch experience is a plus but not requiredAbility to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learnEducation and ExperienceAt least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 poundsAbility to pass a DOT physical examMust be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feetWork environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and driveWork environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repairBenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.EEO and Affirmative Action StatementSpee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
