Elementary Music Teacher (2026-2027)
Location: Houston, TX
School: Westbury Christian School
Salary: $45,000 – $55,000 per year

Westbury Christian School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Music Teacher to join our Lower School team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of music pedagogy and a passion for creating a dynamic and Christ-centered learning environment for young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver dynamic lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum, Christian values, and state standards.
• Integrate faith and learning in meaningful and relevant ways.

• Maintain a nurturing, safe, and loving learning atmosphere which supports and encourages student engagement and belonging.

• Assess student progress and provide feedback to improve performance and skills.

• Plan musical tasks that are meaningful, related to course objectives, and developmentally appropriate. Manage allotted learning time to maximize student vocal, rhythmic, and instrumental practice

• Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and other community initiatives.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school's continuous improvement.
• Uphold the school's mission, values, and policies.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success and the overall school community.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development days, and school events as required.
• Support and participate in the school’s faith development programs.
  

Qualifications:

• Committed Christian who is a faithful member of a local Christian church. Successful applicants must affirm the Statement of Faith and Biblical Principles, which can be found
• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certificate.
• Elementary music teaching experience preferred; new graduates with strong enthusiasm for elementary and music education are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Creative, motivated, and dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.
• Alignment with the school's core values: relational, growth mindset, teamwork, commitment, and creativity.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to move around classroom, including navigating student desks and materials
• Ability to communicate clearly and audibly, including speaking and hearing
• Ability to lift and carry materials, including occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Bending, squatting, and reaching
• Manual dexterity to use office equipment, manipulate books and other learning materials, and assist students with various activities
• Frequent writing, keyboarding and other repetitive motions
