Senior Veterinarian

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinarian for a full-time opportunity in the Boston area. This is a senior clinical leadership position within a state-of-the-art private veterinary practice, offering the opportunity to oversee a growing hospital, work alongside a team of veterinarians and support staff, and potentially advance into a future Director of Operations role overseeing multiple facilities.

The Senior Veterinarian will provide high-quality medical and surgical care to companion animals, primarily dogs and cats, while also helping lead clinical operations and support the continued growth of the hospital. The facility is expected to expand to seven-day operations, making team development, staffing, clinical leadership, and operational collaboration important components of this role.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of veterinary hospital experience, strong small-animal medical and surgical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other veterinarians, hospital leadership, referring veterinarians, clients, and support staff.

Key responsibilities include examining and diagnosing diseases and injuries in companion animals, developing and managing medical treatment plans, treating patients both medically and surgically, performing dental procedures, administering core vaccinations, counseling clients regarding preventive care and wellness, managing ongoing medical cases and patient outcomes, collaborating with referring veterinarians, working with the Regional Operations Manager and Hospital Manager to maintain high standards of patient care, helping oversee clinical operations within the veterinary hospital, supporting and mentoring veterinarians and veterinary staff, assisting with building and growing a strong veterinary team, supporting staffing and operational planning as the hospital expands its service schedule, helping maintain efficient patient flow and high-quality clinical standards, participating in ongoing education, seminars, and clinical training, managing time effectively and prioritizing responsibilities in a fast-paced hospital environment, and contributing to a positive work environment for staff, clients, and patients.

Relevant experience should include strong hands-on small-animal clinical care in areas such as physical examinations, medical diagnosis and treatment, medical case management, preventive medicine, vaccinations, soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, dental extractions, anesthesia/analgesia management, diagnostic interpretation, client counseling, and referral coordination.
