Electrical Engineer I

Job DescriptionUnder the guidance of senior engineering staff, the Engineer I will support a variety of engineering and design activities for power plant upgrades, modifications, and new generation projects.The successful candidate will assist with engineering analyses, calculations, design development, and system modifications while applying established engineering principles, standards, and procedures. Working within multidisciplinary teams, this individual will help evaluate existing plant conditions and contribute to solutions that improve plant safety, reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design SupportSupport engineering and design activities for power plant projects.Assist with engineering studies, calculations, and technical evaluations.Apply established engineering standards, methods, and procedures.Support development of design modifications and technical solutions.Prepare engineering documentation and project deliverables.Participate in technical reviews and design discussions.Electrical Power SystemsSupport evaluation and design of electrical power distribution systems, including:SwitchgearMotor Control Centers (MCCs)Circuit breakersRelated electrical equipmentAssist with:Load flow analysisVoltage drop calculationsShort-circuit studiesHelp identify opportunities to improve system performance and reliability.Project & Team CollaborationWork closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.Support multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.Participate in project meetings and technical discussions.Assist with project planning and execution activities.Field SupportPerform equipment walkdowns and field assessments.Support installation, testing, troubleshooting, and startup activities.Travel periodically to client sites and project locations.Verify field conditions and support engineering evaluations.QualificationsEducationBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.Experience0-2 years of engineering experience.Knowledge may be gained through:Academic coursework, Capstone projects, Internships or co-op programsProfessional work experienceTechnical KnowledgeBasic knowledge of:Electrical power distribution systemsSwitchgearMotor Control Centers (MCCs)Circuit breakersLoad flow calculationsVoltage drop calculationsShort-circuit analysisPreferred QualificationsEducationMaster's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.ExperienceNuclear power industry experience.Internship or field experience supporting power generation projects.Experience with electrical system modeling and calculations using:ETAPSKM Power ToolsCertificationsSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.Certain positions at Zachry Nuclear may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
