About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Client Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required. License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License. Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association. Must-Have: Stroke experience and NIHSS preferred. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Observes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with families and patients in sharing care plans during the hospital stay and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Ratios for patient care are 3:1 for stroke patients and 5:1 for all other patients. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services, and apply nursing techniques is essential. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills. Responds effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required.
