Responsible for training new staff.Essential ResponsibilitiesCollect venous and fingerstick blood specimens from all patient types and age groups in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.Train and orient new employees, students, and homecare nurses in proper practices and procedures of blood collection for assigned work duties.Operate and utilize the laboratory computer system to the fullest extent possible for the job activities and work area assignedMonitor levels of and orders supplies to maintain adequate inventory.Package and transport specimens to appropriate departments for processing by laboratory personnel.Answer telephones, voice pages and beeper calls to respond to work flow change in a timely manner.Ensure positive patient identification, 100% of the time.QualificationsMinimumHigh school diploma/GEDPhlebotomy TrainingAct 34 Criminal Background Clearance CertificateAct 33 Child Abuse Clearance CertificateAct 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.PreferredPhlebotomy or medical assistant certificateDisclaimer: The job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential duties and responsibilities of work performed by employees within this job title.
