Central Supply Technician - Per Diem

Title: Central Supply Technician Location: Laguna Hills, CA Department: Central Services & Supplies Status: Per Diem Shift: Nights Pay Rate: $23.00/hr. Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Utilizing appropriate documents and procedures, the Central Supply Technician must provide inventory and replenish designated areas to ensure appropriate par levels. This position demonstrates the ability to safely move products from the distribution area, utilizing a variety of moving devices including but not limited to forklift, pallet jack and other supply carts. Furthermore, this position is also responsible for using proper body mechanics to avoid injury to self and others. The Central Supply Technician will fill over‑the‑counter and phone requests for medical and non‑medical supplies. Lastly, this position must be able to use current computer systems and adapt to functional changes. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Replenishes supplies using methods specific to the service area to ensure appropriate par levels are consistently maintained throughout the inpatient acute care hospital. Utilizes computer systems to transact and fulfill order requirements in a timely and efficient manner. Receives and fills manual and phone requisitions, delivering to requestors in a timely manner. Utilizes automated dispensing systems such as the Pyxis machine so that crucial supplies are readily available on each inpatient unit. Documents returned items, stores appropriately to ensure all issues are addressed in accordance with department processes. Follows first‑in, first‑out rotation of stock. Maintains storeroom in an orderly condition, removing boxes and placing items in their assigned appropriate location. Maintains accurate records in accordance with department policies and procedures. Ability to be at work and be on time. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Utilizes computer system to transact and fulfill order requirements. Receives manual requisition; fills order and delivers to requestor. Utilizes Pyxis supply station completely and accurately. Receives phone requests, appropriately documents, and delivers items. Documents issues and returns promptly; storing or delivering items where they belong. Distributes supplies in a safe and efficient manner, through proper usage of equipment and proper body mechanics. Follows first in first out rotation of stock. Maintains storeroom in orderly condition by removing boxes and placing items in proper locations. Provides complete and accurate documentation utilizing appropriate forms as defined per policy. Effectively communicates to those around him. Can problem solve, involving others when and where necessary. Reports all safety or service issues to the Supervisor. Experience Previous work experience preferred. Computer inventory experience preferred. Education High School diploma or equivalency. Ability to read and write English.
