Facilities Manager

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Operations, the Facilities Manager provides leadership and oversight for the District's facilities, grounds, and related operations. This position is responsible for directing, supervising, and evaluating employees who maintain the District's buildings, grounds, athletic facilities, parking lots, sidewalks, and other physical assets to ensure safe, clean, functional, well-maintained, and welcoming environments that support student learning and District operations.

The Facilities Manager oversees the daily operations of custodial, grounds, and HVAC personnel; coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance; manages work orders and service schedules; supports facility-related safety and emergency response; and coordinates with District staff, contractors, vendors, and service providers.

The position may also perform or coordinate additional operational responsibilities, including locksmith services, moving and relocation of furniture and equipment, snow and ice removal, salt application, seasonal grounds operations, and other facilities-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required Education/Certification

• High School Diploma

Required Experience

• Eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in school district operations, facilities management, building maintenance, grounds management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience supervising and evaluating employees across multiple operational functions.
• Demonstrated experience managing facilities, grounds, maintenance, custodial, HVAC, or related operations across multiple buildings or campuses.
• Strong computer and technology skills, including proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, work-order systems, and other relevant facilities-management software.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, vendors, and operational needs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, establish expectations, monitor performance, and ensure accountability.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Direct and supervise the daily operations of grounds personnel, HVAC technicians, custodial staff, and other assigned facilities personnel.
• Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, teamwork, service, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Establish clear expectations, work schedules, priorities, and performance standards for assigned employees.
• Communicate strategically with relevant constituencies including but not limited to faculty and staff, building principals and directors to ensure messages are clear, credibility is established and maintained.
• Work with the District Safety Team to continue developing and planning for emergency response management.
• Ensure District compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations with regard to environmental health and safety.
• Develop and manage an annual facilities and grounds budget in conjunction with the Executive Director of Operations and the Assistant Superintendent of Finance.
• Develop and maintain a schedule for facility management including but not limited to preventative maintenance schedules, a system to process and tie out work orders, etc.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director of Operations and the Transportation Manager to ensure the daily operations of the District positively impact student learning.
• Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, alarms) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment.
• Coordinate the movement, setup, storage, and relocation of furniture, equipment, classroom materials, and supplies, particularly during summer operations and major building transitions.
• Communicate strategically and professionally with faculty and staff, building principals, District administrators, students, families, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding facilities and operational matters.
• Coordinate seasonal operations, including snow and ice removal, salt application, grounds preparation, landscaping, athletic-field maintenance, and other weather-dependent activities.
• Solicits price proposals from vendors for supplies and equipment and assists with soliciting of price proposals from outside contractors.
• Responds to system failures, location shut off procedures for irrigation, outbuildings, etc.
• Trains assigned personnel for the purpose of developing professional trade and safety awareness skills.
• Attends in-service training (e.g. blood borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
• Inspect facilities and grounds regularly to identify safety concerns, maintenance needs, operational deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor and hold employees accountable for daily responsibilities, projects, work quality, attendance, safety practices, and overall professionalism.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Work is performed across District buildings, grounds, athletic facilities, maintenance areas, and office environments. The position requires the ability to regularly walk, stand, bend, stoop, climb stairs and ladders, work in varying weather conditions, and safely operate or work around facilities and ground equipment. The position may involve exposure to noise, dust, cleaning products, mechanical equipment, extreme temperatures, snow and ice, uneven surfaces, and other environmental or occupational hazards.

The position requires visual and auditory acuity; effective communication and interpersonal skills; organizational and time-management skills; sound judgment; problem-solving and decision-making abilities; adaptability; technology proficiency; physical stamina; and the ability to respond appropriately to emergency and time-sensitive situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises and evaluates assigned Buildings and Grounds employees, HVAC Technicians, and Custodial staff. Provides leadership, direction, training, work assignments, performance feedback, and accountability for assigned personnel.

School buses, tractors, mowers, gators, bobcats and dump trucks.

Maintenance equipment, general tools, weed whips, push mowers, blowers, edgers.

Travel

Travel between District campuses and facilities is required.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM

Weekend & after scheduled work hours will be required at times

Salary

Starting salary - $64,000-$72,079; salary commensurate with experience
