Maintenance Mechanic IThis is skilled and semi-skilled trade's work in the maintenance, repair, service and alterations of buildings, infrastructure and equipment. Employees in this classification perform skilled tasks in General Maintenance and assist in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration trade and semi skilled work in water distribution systems, mechanical and alteration work. Other trades include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and masonry. Work assignments vary in nature and are performed under limited supervision. It may become necessary from time to time to provide leadership to fellow employees when being assisted in specific trade work.Position is supervised by the Facilities SupervisorTo keep and maintain all district facilities, equipment, systems and infrastructure in excellent operating condition so as to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for students, staff and the general public.Annual evaluation by Facilities SupervisorPosition is a 12 month position and is not affiliated with any bargaining units.Accept and/or implement instructions from Facilities Supervisor verbally or in writing.Assists when needed all HVAC, refrigeration and controls work as required, using all hand tools and power tools as necessary.Inspects equipment and machinery to determine proper functioning and reports issues and recommendations to supervisor.Uses safely all trade related diagnostic equipment to insure proper operation and calibration of equipment, tools and machinery.Performs General building maintenance and alteration work including constructing, installing, or repairing building structures, equipment, painting, architectural hardware, and other related trades work.Plays major role in the Tools for Schools IAQ program by responding to calls and making repairs either to building equipment or building envelope and system repairs.Performs regular maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, minor electrical, filter changing, coil cleaning, repairs, removes and replaces motors, belts, installs or repairs control valves, pneumatic valves etc.Evaluates issues related to general maintenance and recommends and performs Preventive Maintenance.Moves equipment, furnishings, and other district items as needed.Makes repairs to all district equipment as needed.Snow Plowing as needed.Ability to work under emergency conditions to effect repairs with expediency and due consideration of clients and conditions.On call 24 hrs. and must maintain district cell phone charged and on at all times.Responsible to inform supervisor immediately of issues with district cell phone for repair or replacement.Responsible to maintain updated contact information with supervisor, i.e. Address, Home Phone, etc.Responds to, as needed, at any time for emergency calls, overtime, or special needs outside of normal working hours.Regular hours are 6:30 – 3:00 p.m. Hours may be adjusted in order to perform tasks which may conflict with the regular school program.Project a positive image for the school district at all times.Performs related operations duties as required.Must possess a thorough knowledge of trade code compliance in listed trades.Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions required for the trades including local and state codes.Must demonstrate the ability to work from sketches, plans, read and interpret blue prints and schematics and to understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions.Must demonstrate skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment common to the trades.Demonstrate the ability to lead others when being assisted by others within the class or related classes.
