Guest Service Associate Location: Detroit, MI, US | Department: Front Office | Starting Pay: $16.13 per hour Job Summary As a Guest Service Associate, you will be the first and last impression our guests experience — combining the warmth of a door and bell attendant with the professionalism of a front desk agent. Key Responsibilities Greet and welcome guests upon arrival at the entrance, providing a warm and professional first impression that sets the tone for their stay. Open doors, assist with luggage, and escort guests to the front desk or their accommodations as needed, ensuring a smooth and comfortable arrival experience. Execute efficient and accurate guest check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying reservations, processing payments, and issuing room keys. Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, resolving issues with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset. Communicate local area knowledge including dining, attractions, and transportation options to enhance the guest experience. Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to fulfill guest needs and ensure room readiness. Monitor the lobby and entrance areas, maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment at all times. Accurately document guest interactions, special requests, and incidents in the property management system to support team communication and service continuity. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or a guest-facing role. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a genuinely welcoming demeanor. Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods throughout a shift. Ability to lift and transport luggage and guest belongings safely (up to 50 lbs). Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Professional appearance and adherence to company grooming and uniform standards. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or full-service hospitality environment. Familiarity with property management systems (PMS) such as Opera, Fosse, or similar platforms. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus. Experience in a dual-function or cross‑trained hospitality role. Technical Skills Proficiency with property management and reservation systems. Basic computer skills including data entry and use of standard office software. Ability to operate standard front desk equipment including printers, key card systems, and multi‑line phones.
