Staff Accountant

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations for an on-site accounting team in St. Paul, MN. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, responsible for routine accounting tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support. The position requires a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and the ability to work independently within established processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries throughout the month, including fixed assets, prepaids, and routine accruals

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations

• Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation

• Support month-end close activities by completing assigned tasks accurately and on deadline

• Review journal entries after posting to ensure balances moved as intended

• Assist with clean-up of legacy balance sheet items and reconciling differences

Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and -Accounts Receivable activities

• Assist with billing, invoice creation, and customer follow-up as needed

• Provide transaction detail and documentation to support audits

• Perform additional accounting duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

• 2 years of general Accounting experience

• Understanding of debits, credits, and the purpose of journal entries

• Ability to read and understand financial statements, including Balance Sheet and P&L

• Experience assisting with or supporting month-end close

• Experience performing balance sheet reconciliations

• Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and working with data

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field - Experience in a manufacturing environment

• Experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems

• Exposure to Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable processes

• Experience with legacy data clean-up or complex reconciliations
