We're working with a leading construction contractor looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Manager to play a key strategic role across regional projects and bids. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business where planning is seen as a critical part of project success.


This role will lead the regional planning function, supporting both pre-construction and live projects , ensuring programmes are robust, risks are identified early, and project teams are supported with high-quality planning insight.

The Role


As Planning Manager , you will be responsible for shaping planning strategy across the region and supporting both bid teams and operational project teams.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of planning procedures and best practice
  • Providing planning support across regional bids, including programme development and risk analysis
  • Supporting bid teams in delivering competitive and commercially attractive tender submissions
  • Working closely with the supply chain to align programme strategies
  • Supporting the preparation of board approval documentation and client presentations
  • Ensuring a smooth handover from pre-construction to delivery teams
  • Providing planning oversight across live projects in the region
  • Monitoring project programmes and identifying risks, delays, and mitigation strategies
  • Leading delay analysis and programme recovery strategies
  • Supporting project teams with critical path analysis and programme reporting
  • Developing and maintaining a regional database of project and as-built programme information
  • Reviewing and improving planning systems, software, and processes
  • Keeping the planning function up to date with industry best practice, legal developments, and case law
What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience leading a planning team within a main contractor environment
  • Strong background in construction planning and front-end project management
  • Excellent knowledge of design, procurement, and commercial processes
  • Experience working with construction programmes and critical path analysis
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, planning methodologies, and risk management
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and project level
