Inpatient Physical Therapist (per diem)

Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restores Patient Physical Functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices. Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required. For licensure prior to 2016, a bachelor's or master's degree is acceptable; licensure from 2016 onward requires completion of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Completes billing sheet accurately by end of day. Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Performs patient assessment and establishes a plan of care. Provides in-service education programs for nursing personnel as needed. Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation. Discusses evaluation, goals and treatment with both patient and family. Participates in Hospital-wide quality process improvement. Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Supervises PTAs according to organization policy and state regulations. Education/Degree Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program required Licensure Licensed (and in good standing) as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required Required Skills BLS required. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the English language. Basic skills in math and computer science. Appropriate knowledge of physical therapy evaluation and treatment techniques to manage the rehabilitation population. Effective problem solving skills for physical therapy evaluation, interpretation, treatment planning and execution taking into consideration patient's age, psychosocial, cultural and religious background. Basic skills in teaching others and self assessment of learning needs, strengths, and professional goals. Safely execute all job responsibilities without risking injury to self or patients. Demonstrates the ability to assess and interact with patients and families using the theories of human growth and development, family systems, and cultural background. Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software. Maintain variable work schedule depending on hospital/program needs to provide patient care (evening, holidays, weekend and travel). Preferred Skills Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population. Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team. Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them. High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations. Attention to detail.
