Key Responsibilities

• Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans developed by a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic activities to improve students' fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, handwriting, visual-motor integration, and sensory processing.
• Assist students with developing the skills needed for classroom participation, including writing, cutting, manipulating classroom materials, and completing daily tasks.
• Support students with activities of daily living and functional school routines, as appropriate to their individual needs.
• Implement sensory strategies and accommodations to support students' attention, self-regulation, and participation in learning activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, school administrators, therapists, and parents to support students' educational and functional goals.
• Monitor student progress and communicate observations and concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatment sessions, student progress, and services provided in accordance with school and program requirements.
• Assist in adapting classroom materials, activities, and equipment to improve accessibility and student independence.
• Provide guidance to teachers and school staff regarding strategies that support students' participation in classroom activities, as directed by the supervising OT.
• Support the implementation of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related occupational therapy goals.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes student development and engagement.
• Follow applicable confidentiality requirements, school policies, and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
