Job Title: Buyer/Planner – Electric Vehicle Systems Location: Gilbert, AZ Department: Operations - Supply Chain & Logistics Reports To: Plant Manager RePower Electric Corporation is looking for a mid-level to senior Buyer / Planner to join our Team at our Gilbert, AZ, headquarters. Position Overview The Buyer/Planner balances material supply with factory demand to support electric vehicle Kit assembly and sub-assembly manufacturing. This role owns end-to-end component procurement, inventory health, and scheduling for critical EV commodities like powertrains, battery components, thermal systems, and wire harnesses. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment, rapidly mitigates global logistics risks, and collaborates closely with engineering to execute New Product Introductions. Key Responsibilities Material Planning & Scheduling: Analyze demand signals using ERP/MRP systems to generate rolling production and procurement plans. Align material intake with build schedules to maintain lean inventory targets and optimize cash flow. Manage safety stock parameters to balance low inventory hold costs against factory shortage risks. Supply Risk Management & Reporting: Identify potential supply issues proactively through independent monitoring of market trends, supplier constraints, and inventory data. Report risks and shortages upward to the Plant Manager and senior leadership immediately with data-backed mitigation strategies. Execute purchase orders (POs) and scheduling agreements. Conduct vendor reviews and qualification processes alongside the Engineering team, leading strategic contract negotiations. Manage and own ongoing vendor performance metrics and scorecards. Develop, drive, and own cost reduction plans to optimize component spend. Implement multi-sourcing strategies for critical components and actively consolidate vendors to streamline the supply base. Track supplier performance focusing on lead times, material quality, and On-Time Delivery (OTD) metrics. Resolve supply disruptions and expedite critical parts to eliminate factory bottlenecks. Negotiate local and strategic supplier contracts for all components. Cross-Functional Collaboration & NPI: Assist with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) plans and execution alongside engineering and operations teams. Partner with Engineering to manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and minimize excess/obsolete parts during design shifts. Coordinate component readiness with the Quality team via the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Reconcile invoicing variances alongside Finance and accounts payable departments. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field. Experience: 3+ years of experience as a buyer or planner in an automotive, aerospace, battery, or electronics manufacturing facility. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in modern ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel data analysis. Industry Standards: General understanding of automotive quality standards, such as IATF 16949 or ISO 9001. Preferred Qualifications Certifications: APICS CPIM, CSCP, or ISM certifications. EV Domain Knowledge: Direct experience procuring lithium-ion cell components, electrical motors, or semiconductor parts. Agility: Proven ability to manage supply streams during rapid production volume ramps.
