Store 1053, Niskayuna, Schenectady, New York, United States of America Job Description Summary: Assist customers with frame selection, fits and dispense frames. Utilize technical information to interpret prescriptions and assist customers with the selection of optical products and services. Pay Class and Pay Pay Class: Full Time Pay: $24.50 - $36.75 per hour Responsibilities Assist each customer with frame and lens selection while meeting social distance requirements. Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols, and hygiene practices: frequent handwashing, avoid shaking hands, cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, and avoid touching eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands. Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections, and other services. Assist customers covered by third‑party insurance with accurate information regarding benefits to ensure proper selection of frames and lenses; inform the customer of any additional charges not covered by their insurance. Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations based on patient needs. Utilize all available demonstration tools (refer to SERVE brochure). Analyze and interpret patients’ prescriptions. Communicate as necessary with the lab and optometrist to ensure accuracy. Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories through accurate measurements, verification of ordered products, and adjustment of optical products, in accordance with eyewear presentation standards. Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area. Ensure accurate customer pricing for retail customers. Provide feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians where applicable. Adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and proprietary company policies and procedures (e.g., HIPAA). Participate in training and educational activities necessary to fulfill departmental requirements, including professional affiliation requirements. Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and the overall facility daily. Complete additional responsibilities as assigned based on changing business needs. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience & Background Maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing. Demonstrated ability to explain optical products and services, analyze and interpret prescriptions, and perform fitting and dispensing. Language Skills Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and associates. Mathematical Skills Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Apply basic algebra and geometry concepts. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to execute instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Essential Responsibilities related to Physical Demands/Work Environment Stand, use hands and fingers to handle, pick, or pinch, talk or hear most of the time; occasionally walk, reach, lift or move up to 20 pounds; moderate noise level.
