Job Title: Safety Specialist Location: Richmond, VA Employment Type: Direct Placement Industry: Industrial Machinery Manufacturing Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00 /hr. Schedule: 40 hrs/Week. - (1st shift) About the Opportunity The Safety Specialist is a hands-on position that supports the Safety Manager in maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant manufacturing workplace. This position is responsible for carrying out day-to-day safety activities, conducting inspections, supporting employee training, investigating incidents, maintaining safety records, leading with actions, and promoting a positive safety culture throughout the facility. The Safety Specialist works closely with production supervisors, maintenance personnel, and employees to identify & support actions related to hazards, reduce risks, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. What You’ll Do Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and audits throughout the manufacturing facility. Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and document and support corrective actions. Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. Assist departments with implementing corrective and preventive actions. Maintain safety signage, postings, and required documentation. Assist with safety meetings and toolbox talks. Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and programs. What Sets You Apart Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety principles. Hands-on approach to safety Good organizational and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Self-motivated, hands-on professional who is comfortable spending significant time in the manufacturing environment and taking immediate action to address safety risks. Understanding of manufacturing safety hazards and controls. Ability to conduct inspections and identify workplace risks. Bias for Action Good attention to detail and documentation skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deliver safety training to employees. Good problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to handle confidential information professionally. Additional Information Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check. Ability to walk production areas for extended periods. Ability to lift to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access manufacturing equipment safely. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
