Work Shift: Varied Shift (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Department: Financial and Revenue Cycle Administration Overview of Position: Determines financial responsibilities and communicates various payment sources and payment options to reach mutual agreement of effective method of satisfying patient accounts. May also contact third-party payers in regard to reimbursement/follow‑up. Assesses patient financial and physical status for possible Medicaid eligibility. Uses independent decision making skills as to patient options affecting outcome of account. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Determines financial responsibilities for patients. Communicates various payment sources and options available to resolve patient balances. Reviews payment options to reach mutual agreement of effective method of satisfying patient accounts. May contact third‑party payers in regard to reimbursement/follow‑up. Assesses patient financial and physical status for possible Medicaid eligibility. Uses independent decision making skills as to patient options affecting outcome of account. Collects patient co‑payments and deductibles. Place outgoing calls on patient accounts for resolution of account balances. Meet with patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Set up bank loans and pay arrangements on patient’s accounts. Demonstrates knowledge to scan appropriate documents and search for documents in Imaging System. Consistently coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift. QUALIFICATIONS High school graduate or equivalent. Attention to detail. Good communication and effective listening skills. Working computer knowledge, including experience with Word and Excel. Clear concise speaking voice. Effective time management and organizational skills. Strong mathematical skills. Ability to prioritize, comprehend and deal with multiple tasks. Excellent interpersonal, decision‑making and problem solving skills. Demonstrates a pleasant, positive and caring attitude. PATIENT CENTERED CARE & BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS 1. Promotes Patient and Employee Safety Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.) Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.) Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to read, write, and utilize manual and computerized systems of documentation. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner. Ability to work with detail and be detail oriented. Ability to sit in one place for three - four hours at a time.
