Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. In this role, you will provide respiratory care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients, working collaboratively with physicians and nurses to deliver optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of respiratory physiology and critical care procedures, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. As a Respiratory Therapist in the ICU, you will be responsible for managing ventilators, administering respiratory medications, performing airway management, and monitoring patient response to therapy. You will also participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of patient care plans. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality respiratory care to our patients. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain mechanical ventilation for critically ill patients. Administer respiratory medications via various routes, including nebulizers, inhalers, and metered-dose inhalers. Perform airway management procedures, including intubation assistance and extubation. Monitor patient response to respiratory therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed. Draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) to assess patient respiratory status. Provide tracheostomy care and management. Troubleshoot respiratory equipment and alarms. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care planning. Perform oral/nasal suctioning and airway clearance techniques. Collect sputum specimens. Administer oxygen therapy using various devices, including nasal cannula, masks, and high-flow nasal cannula. Provide respiratory support in emergency situations. Float between Methodist/University/Fishers/Morgan locations as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum of 18 months of recent experience in an ICU setting. Graduate of a respiratory care education program accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited through CHEA. Active Indiana (IN) Respiratory Therapist license. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Cerner charting system. Skills & Competencies Adult Critical Care expertise. Proficiency in aerosol mask setup. Knowledge of Albuterol, Atrovent, and Xopenex administration. Experience with BiPAP and CPAP devices. Ability to draw and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs). Intubation assistance skills. Experience with heated and cold aerosol treatments. Proficiency with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC). Knowledge of nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning. Experience with T-piece and trach collar. Ability to troubleshoot high-pressure alarms. Experience with weaning from mechanical ventilation. Knowledge of ultrasonic nebulizers. Tracheostomy care and management skills. Shift Details Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 12‑hour shifts, 4 days per week. Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday). Contract Length 13 weeks. Start Date: June 15, 2026. End Date: September 14, 2026. Licensing Requirements Active Indiana (IN) Respiratory Therapist license.
