They move dirt for a year, hand it off, and never know what it became. Here, you build athletic fields that matter. You own every project end-to-end — budget, schedule, quality, safety, client relationship. You have line authority over the field crews. You make the calls. This isn't a desk job. This is construction delivery at its best: fast-paced, seasonal, visible, and real. The Role You own it completely. Budget and margin — from estimating handoff through closeout. Schedule — you build it, defend it, own the consequences. Subcontractor management — you buyout, you manage, you hold them accountable. Field quality — you verify it. Client relationship — you're the primary contact. You have explicit stop-work authority on any operation that isn't safe. You run multiple projects concurrently in different delivery models on a seasonal clock that doesn't negotiate. The athletic calendar sets your finish date. Grow-in windows don't move because a submittal was late. You report to the Principal. Decisions take a conversation, not a committee. Why This is Different You actually learn the product. In-house design, survey, GPS/machine control staff, and self-perform crews. You're not brokering every scope to a sub and hoping. You shape the company. We're building the systems now — cost reporting, buyout process, QA/QC standards, closeout templates. You'll help write them. Small firm, direct line. No layers. No committees. The Principal is one conversation away. How We Deliver: The Game Plan / Prepare To Play Standard

1. Nothing starts without a plan. Scope, budget, schedule, logistics, risks — all worked out before mobilization. Buyout complete before crews roll.
2. The number is the number. We tell clients and each other the truth about cost and schedule, early — including when it's bad news. A budget problem in May is a decision. The same problem in August is an excuse.
3. No surprises. The client hears it from us first — especially if it affects an athletic season.
4. The standard is set by the athletes and communities who use the fields, not the spec book. We finish the last 5% — punch list, as‑builts, O&M manuals, warranties, owner training. Most contractors disappear at 95%. That's where we earn the next project.

What You’ll Own Preconstruction & Buyout: Validate quantities, assumptions, margin. Build the execution plan. Solicit, level, and award subcontracts. Release long‑lead procurement (turf, drainage, irrigation, lighting) on schedule. Budget, Cost & Cash: Hold the cost‑loaded budget. Track committed cost, cost‑to‐complete, projected margin monthly. Catch margin erosion early. Produce monthly WIP and forecast reporting. Schedule: Build and own the baseline. Run three‑week look‑aheads with Supts and Foremen. Sequence around Ohio weather and athletic calendars. Contract, Risk & Safety: Administer the prime contract (AIA and owner‑form agreements, submittals, RFIs). Manage insurance, bonding, subcontractor compliance, lien law obligations. Own safety planning with authority to stop work. Field, Quality & Closeout: Verify work against plans and specs. Coordinate testing and verification. Drive substantial and final completion, closeout docs, owner training, final reconciliation. Client Management: Primary contact for administrators, athletic directors, parks staff, facility managers. Run preconstruction, progress, and closeout meetings. Identify follow‑on opportunities. Support estimating. What You Bring Required: 5+ years managing site, civil, or sports facility construction — budget and cost control, scheduling, contract and change management, subcontractor buyout, field quality assurance. Ability to read and interpret civil site plans, grading and drainage plans, technical specifications. Working knowledge of sitework fundamentals: earthwork, subgrade, aggregate base, subsurface drainage, irrigation. Working knowledge of construction insurance, bonding, public bidding, prevailing wage, state/local procurement. Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Smartsheet, Procore, or similar). Comfort presenting to clients, boards, stakeholder groups. OSHA 30‑Hour Construction — at hire or within 90 days. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally. Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Turfgrass Science, or related — or equivalent field experience. Nice to Have: Synthetic turf or natural grass sports field construction experience. Background in landscape, golf course, or field maintenance construction. Experience with school districts, parks and recreation agencies, universities. Familiarity with sport governing‑body standards or field design requirements. Working knowledge of sports lighting, bleachers, athletic site furnishings. CSFM, CCM, CPC, or PMP certification; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS/machine control experience. Who Does Well Here Treats the project budget as if it were your own money. Sees margin risk before it shows up in the cost report — and says something. Credible with field superintendents and school superintendents alike. Keeps composure under schedule pressure and in front of a client when things go wrong. Holds a subcontractor accountable without blowing up the relationship. Would rather be on a jobsite than behind a desk.
