Industrial Engineer

Tesla is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished Industrial Engineer who will be the owner of Industrial Engineering initiatives for Energy products manufacturing operations. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the world-class manufacturing facility in Buffalo, New York, working in a demanding and fast-paced environment to improve critical subsystems of an exciting product.

Responsibilities

• Manage capacity planning standards for all energy product manufacturing lines
• Create operating plans for all production lines, including labor requirements, break strategies, and shift schedules
• Conduct options analysis for existing line optimization and new line installations and estimate resource requirements for factory footprint expansion projects
• Work with internal operations and management teams to define scenarios for growth and formulate improvement strategies to help with product ramp
• Perform capacity studies and static sensitivity analyses to identify factors impacting line throughput (OEE, Headcount, number of material handling equipment) and make recommendations for improvement
• Perform discrete event simulation modeling and statistical modeling to influence key business decisions
• Management and development of factory staffing models used to develop site level staffing plans
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Kaizen and 5S methodologies
• Design assembly line, support space, and amenity area layouts using quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques to facilitate smooth operations and optimize cost/sqft
• Lead projects to efficiently allocate space inside and outside the factory to support value-added and support team operations

Requirements

• 4+ years' experience in Industrial Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a manufacturing environment
• Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
• Extensive experience with Excel Macros (VBA a plus)
• Experience with automated/semi-automated manufacturing lines and robotics is a plus
• Distinguishing experiences/skills: 2D CAD, Revit, lean manufacturing, work measurement, analytics (SQL, Tableau), discrete event simulation (FlexSIM), operations research, scale manufacturing experience, MOST, Modapts
• Ability to self-manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

Expected Compensation

• Associate Industrial Engineer - $72,000 - $108,000/annual salary
• Industrial Engineer - $86,400 - $129,600/annual salary

+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
