Research Communications Strategist

Position Overview Gensler Research Institute seeks a Research Communications Strategist located in Washington, DC. The role combines strategy, writing and project management to shape communications for research initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead communications planning and execution for IP and grants deliverables. Manage integrated communications workstreams across editorial, design, web, social media and presentation materials. Coordinate production schedules and deliverables, ensuring on‑time, on‑brand outcomes aligned with Institute priorities. Work with GRI leadership to identify visibility and impact opportunities for research. Collaborate with research leads and analytics team to translate research into clear narratives for internal and external audiences. Develop, write and edit content across formats: reports, blogs, LinkedIn newsletter, web copy, internal communications and campaign materials. Coordinate with design teams for asset development, reviews, approvals and production timelines. Build and maintain project plans, timelines and workflows in Asana; contribute to annual communications planning, editorial calendars and strategic initiatives. Qualifications 3‑5 years of experience in writing, editorial, publications or related role. Excellent writing, editorial and verbal communication skills; writing samples required. Experience on integrated editorial and graphics teams; understanding of print and online publication processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe InDesign; InCopy, Photoshop, Illustrator a plus. Strong attention to detail, multitasking and prioritization skills. Organized, efficient, collaborative and able to work across leadership levels. Salary and Benefits The base for this role is estimated to be between $80,000-$85,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
