divh2Job Title/h2pPET/CT Technologist/ph2Job Description/h2pCVP is seeking a PET/CT Technologist to join our team in providing our Nations Veterans with nuclear medicine and diagnostic imaging services at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center), located at 5901 E. 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822. This is a full-time, on-site position./ph2Responsibilities/h2pIndependently operate Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT scanner equipment to perform a variety of complex nuclear medicine and PET/CT imaging exams, following strict nuclear medicine safety practices established by national standards and VALBHS policies and procedures./ppOperate computerized nuclear medicine and PET/CT camera imaging systems and other specialized equipment to perform clinical diagnostic examinations and procedures utilizing calibrated radio tracers and radiopharmaceuticals, including PET and PET/CT, general and cardiac studies producing high quality nuclear medicine static, dynamic, and Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT) imaging./ppPerform complex clinical diagnostic laboratory examinations as required./ppReceive patients, explain the method of procedure(s), position patients appropriately, select and set technical parameters, and set up and adjust accessory equipment for imaging./ppSet up Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT suites, ensuring that sterile supplies, properly calibrated radiopharmaceuticals and radio tracers, catheters, and all other required equipment and supplies are present and available prior to examinations./ppPrepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, radio tracers, and contrast material intravenously under close supervision of radiologist(s); these are not to be administered independently./ppPerform related clerical duties including sending images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), archiving images, post-processing images, and case editing of computer requests and reports./ppMaintain records and enter patient information using the Radiology VistA Package and the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)./ppContribute to patient assessments and determine priorities using independent judgment, organizational skills, and an interdisciplinary approach to the provision of care./ppComply with all applicable VALBHS written policies, procedures, bylaws, and medical staff protocols; do not introduce new procedures or services without prior approval from the VALBHS Chief of Staff or Medical Director./ppReport any unusual incidents within 24 hours to the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) of the VALBHS Radiology Department; report all accidents, malfunctions, injuries, and deaths immediately and verbally to the COR./ppMaintain patient sensitivity and respect the basic rights and dignity of all patients./ph2Qualifications/h2pMust be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance; US Citizenship is required./ppMinimum of two (2) years of current work experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT./ppMust hold a current, valid ARRT Nuclear Medicine certification ARRT (N) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification./ppSuccessful completion of a NMTCB-recognized nuclear medicine technology program OR completion of a nuclear medicine technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) or other accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, culminating in a certificate, associate, baccalaureate, or masters degree./ppDemonstrated experience starting Intravenous (IV) lines, administering radiopharmaceutical injections, and administering contrast injections; IV certification is preferred but not required./ppExperience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS); AGFA PACS experience is preferred but not required - training will be provided as needed./ppCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross./ppFamiliarity with medical terminology, VA health information systems, and electronic medical records; training will be provided on VA-specific systems upon appointment./ppStrong communication skills and English language fluency./ppLocation: VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS), 5901 E. 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822/ppShifts: Weekday Coverage (including holidays)/ppDay: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm/ppPay Rate: Hourly Pay: $72.00/hr/ppHealth Wellness (HW): $5.09/hr (HW will be prorated based on enrollment in the benefits offered, including automatic enrollment in employer-paid plans.)/ppAbout CVP: CVP is an award-winning healthcare and next-gen technology and consulting services firm solving critical problems for healthcare, national security, and public sector clients.
