About This Opportunity

This is a community hospital in North Carolina with a well-established pharmacy department. The department has about 9 pharmacist FTEs, including the Director of Pharmacy and a Clinical Manager, plus a technician team of about 6 FTEs, a buyer, and two medication reconciliation technicians. All of those positions are currently filled. Regulatory work, staff development, and clinical services have been running well, so the interim director will keep a strong department on track rather than rebuild one.

Weekend coverage is not required. The current director and clinical manager each work one weekend a month to keep their clinical skills sharp, and the interim director can do the same if they want.

Responsibilities

Provide steady interim leadership for pharmacy operations across the hospital.l
Lead clinical services and support the Clinical Manager and pharmacist team.
Manage the pharmacy budget, staffing, and financial performance
Oversee regulatory compliance and keep the department survey-ready
Support staff development and mentor pharmacists and technicians
Work with hospital administration, medical staff, and nursing leadership
Keep medication safety and quality programs moving forward
Help out on the pharmacy floor as needed to stay connected to the team

Experience

Director of Pharmacy or pharmacy leadership experience in a hospital setting required
Strong clinical and financial leadership skills
Regulatory and compliance experience
Staff development and team leadership experience
Meditech and Pyxis experience preferred

Clear communicator with administration, physicians, nursing, and pharmacy staff

Qualifications

Active North Carolina Pharmacist License required
