About the Company

Our client is an established construction organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support accounting operations, project financial reporting, and financial controls.

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Corporate Controller and oversee accounting activities for assigned operating companies.

The role focuses on WIP, job costing, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and accounting controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop accounting staff.
• Partner with the Corporate Controller and operational leadership.
• Review accounting activity and ensure accuracy and deadlines are met.
• Identify and communicate financial issues and risks.
• Lead monthly WIP reporting.
• Review job costs, billings, change orders, retention, and revenue recognition.
• Review cost-to-complete and project margins.
• Monitor underbillings, overbillings, and budget variances.
• Lead month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting and intercompany activity.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC 606.
• Support cash flow forecasting and receivables.
• Maintain accounting controls and procedures.
• Improve accounting processes and ERP utilization.
• Support auditors, banks, bonding agents, and sureties.
• Primarily office-based in Santee, CA.
• Full-time, in-person position.
• Regular interaction with accounting and operational teams.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. 7+ years of accounting experience with 4+ years in construction accounting.
3. Construction WIP and job costing experience.
4. Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition.
5. Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
6. Prior accounting team leadership experience.
7. Advanced Excel skills.
8. Experience with an ERP accounting system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Viewpoint Vista, SAGE 300, CMiC, Foundation, or Procore Financials experience.
• Multi-entity accounting experience.
• Intercompany and consolidated reporting experience.
• California construction accounting experience.
