Director of EngineeringThe Director of Engineering oversees all engineering and facilities operations for the hotel, ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of the property. This role leads preventive maintenance, life safety programs, energy management, capital planning, and repair of all building systems, equipment, and grounds. The Director of Engineering partners closely with the General Manager to align operations with brand standards, financial objectives, and all local, state, and federal regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Property OperationsDirect all engineering operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, asset protection, and emergency preparednessEnsure compliance with Hyatt brand standards and all applicable safety, building, and environmental regulationsConduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs and protect hotel assetsOversee life safety systems, emergency programs, inspections, drills, and documentationManage energy efficiency initiatives and utility controlsCoordinate with vendors, solicit bids, negotiate contracts, and manage service agreementsInvestigate incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and mitigate risk and liabilityMaintain accurate asset tracking and inventory controls in partnership with CorporateFinancial & Strategic ManagementPrepare and manage the Engineering operating budget and capital expenditure plansMonitor expenses, labor, and inventory to meet or exceed financial goalsProvide cost comparisons, forecasts, and recommendations to hotel leadershipSupport long- and short-term planning initiativesLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop the Engineering team with a focus on accountability and service excellenceHire, train, schedule, and evaluate Engineering associatesConduct performance reviews, manage progressive discipline, and support succession planningEnsure all associates are properly trained in equipment use, safety, and emergency proceduresFoster open communication, engagement, and employee retentionGuest & Stakeholder RelationsEnsure prompt response to guest and internal maintenance requestsMaintain a visible presence on property and interact with guests to resolve concernsPartner with department leaders to support hotel operations and guest satisfactionLiaise with local authorities, fire departments, and insurance providers as neededQualificationsExperienceMinimum 5 years of progressive engineering or facilities management experience, preferably in hospitalityAt least 3 years of management experience, including budgeting, vendor management, and team leadershipProven track record of maintaining assets while meeting financial and operational goalsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong leadership, organization, and delegation skillsSolid understanding of building systems, life safety, and preventive maintenance programsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; strong budgeting and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentPhysical & Scheduling RequirementsOpen availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to work in varied conditions (hot, cold, wet)Ability to climb ladders and stairs (up to 30 feet), lift up to 100 pounds, and perform physical tasks associated with building maintenanceAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and move throughout the property for extended periodsEEO M/F/D/V
